Go Straight To The Wall

When you walk into the paint store you see a wall of glorious colors. Where do you start?

Primary colors! Narrow your choice down to a primary color. If your intention is to look for a color that is cream then you need to think of what "under tone" you want in your cream. Bad example, green is a common undertone that clients are often unsatisfied with. It is easy to find a color that you do not really want. The correction for this is to choose you primary color first. Cream, do you like a hint yellow? Blue? Brown? Red? Green? No matter what company you buy paint from you will need to draw the color you desire from a primary color.

Color Grouping

All stores will group your collors. They will be annoyingly crafty and separate all the reds for you. All the creams and all the greys. This will make it easy for you to see these colors but it will also make it awefly hard to find the grey you "want". Choose your color group. Think of the primary color you want to see in the undertone. If you have a color deck or your color is on a strip, look at the color at the bottom of your strip. Notice how the color deepens/darkens as you look further down the strip. This deeper the color is shows you the base for your color. #fandeckreadinginaction Boom! You Just Painted Your Room Pink

You chose a million color chips. After months you chose the perfect one. Why is you room pink?

I will admit it! Choosing a color for a room is a testing accomplishment. Sample paints can run from $8 - $26. After you apply nine colors on your wall you have to figure out how to dispose of the little paint cans. Hopefully you did not get into a fight over what color to choose! Let me help. Choosing a paint color is not easy. NO CREAM IS ALIKE. NO GRAY IS ALIKE! Let's talk formulas "recipes" and codes. Find the code on the paint chip. Get the color formula for the paint. If your cream or your grey has so many ounces of umber or yellow you will be looking at a color that is a bit brown. Again, you are narrowing it down to the primary color of your paint.

Paint A Room.

After you have chosen a color based on your undertone, get to painting. You will not be surprised to see a green hue to your walls after choosing Simply White because, unlike your friends you saw before hand that the formula had an ounce of yellow and an ounce of blue. Do not be scared to investigate your colors. Ask more questions than "can I get a sample jar of Simple White". Ask for the color recipe. Look at the primary color that is in the particular color. Then narrow your decision based on the undertone that you want. I have faith in you!
